Making Dreams come true

Follow Your Dreams has launched its largest fundraising campaign ever called ‘Catch the Dream’.

Catch the Dream is a 3 year campaign that will create a wave of inspirational goal setting for youngsters with learning disabilities, who are looking to explore and develop their potential in Music, Art, Sport and Drama. The campaign was launched in Cardiff in January 2011 and will tour throughout the whole of 2011 visiting some of the major shopping centres and special needs schools, colleges, centres and groups throughout the UK, placing the charity in the spotlight of over 7 million people.

This tour incorporates Britain’s Got Special Talent and YES! we really are looking to find Britain’s Special Star on our tour of the UK.

The campaign’s aim is to catch the dreams of 1000 youngsters with learning disabilities throughout the UK and then to work in partnership with local fundraisers to help make those dreams come true.

Our campaign enables us to work in advance of the tour with some special individuals within special needs schools, colleges groups and centres helping them to discover their dreams, goals, hopes and aspirations, preparing them to attend one of our many Catch the Dream events.

Each event is highly entertaining. Participants attend as a group for around an hour during which they reflect on superstars and heroes with learning disabilities before revealing their dreams to us and displaying them on our giant dreams catchers.

As Britain enjoys the Saturday night ritual of watching talent shows like The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, we believe youngsters with learning disabilities should also have the opportunity to show off their talent and we have created the platform to do just that. Each school will be judged by three appointed judges and prizes awarded for their talent. Every child goes home with a goody bag and a BIG smile.

We will be on the 'Search for a Star' and at the end of the year a grand final will be held to find Britain's most talented ‘special’ star. We are already in talks to try and get that person to star on one of our TV favourites for three minutes of fame. This could all be possible thanks to you.
