Mike Phillips Visits Penarth Schools

We had an unexpected but brilliant phone call from our charity’s patron (and international rugby star!) Mike Phillips last week, telling us he’d like to come out and visit some of the schools that we work closely with, so on Wednesday 27th November we took Mike along to Penarth to visit pupils at two schools – Ashgrove School and Ysgol Erw’r Delyn.

Mike made some visits around several classrooms, to chat with pupils and find out about their day and what they were busy doing.  He then took part in a question and answer session with a bigger group of pupils in the Main hall at Erw’r Delyn, where children had the opportunity to ask him whatever they liked, including who his favourite teammates were, what injuries he’s had and if he ever passes the ball forwards!

After all questions were answered, Mike enjoyed a coffee in Ashgrove School’s lovely coffee shop, The Ash Cafe, where he met more pupils, signed lots of pictures for them and posed for lots of photos with pupils and staff.  Mike also donated a pair of his signed rugby boots to the school, which will be displayed with pride to remind all the pupils of the day he came to visit.

We would like to thank Mike Phillips again for all the work he does for Follow Your Dreams and for taking time out of his busy schedule preparing for the Autumn Internationals, to make the young people at Ashgrove and Erw’r Delyn Schools very happy!
